This is a great place and Dr. Rich is the best. He’s very friendly and always makes me laugh! He cares about his patients and he thoroughly explains every test and the results. 100% SATISFIED, SPOT-ON PRESCRIPTION
I’ve used Glasses and Contacts for over 20 years and had several optometrists’ along the path in 3 different countries. In the past I’ve never been 100% satisfied when my prescription changed and always felt there was something wrong when I got new Glasses. Dr. Rich is the first one that’s always “spot-on” with my prescription with great service and amazing staff.
His selection of frames is also always up to date with the latest classic and contemporary models from around the world.
I now live further away from AV, but I’ll continue to be a loyal customer, it’s worth the travel.

This gentleman has been my eye doctor since I was 6 years old nearly 40 years. There’s not a better man in the business. There’s not an eye doctor in town more knowledgeable, more honest or more caring about an individual’s eyesight and how it can affect their lives completely. A complete stand up flawless bedside manner and one of the better men I’ve known in my lifetime. Their prices are completely reasonable and the staff is incredibly thorough.

SAVED ME FROM RUINING MY EYES
Dr Rich has been my family’s optometrist for years!! I love the staff, I love how punctual they are with appointments and ample parking to boot! No fuss here, it’s an annual ritual to get my hazel beauties checked out and the only one I trust to do so, is A.V. Eyes Optometry.
I had trouble adjusting to contact lenses, Dr. Rich was patient as I tried different ones over a few days. I almost fell for a LASIK sales pitch and he was honest about my not being a candidate. He saved me from ruining my eyes, glad I asked him for a second opinion!
If you want a nice office, plenty of selection of frames and a friendly eye doctor, this is your place! I have recommended him to numerous people, I put my reputation on it.

It’s been some time since I have gone to A.V. Eyes Optometry and it was as impressive as I remember, the only difference now I was bringing in my 6 year old twins. From the moment I called to make an appointment to the moment I left, Lindsay was so helpful, patient and courteous. She helped confirm all my insurance and made the entire process very easy. Dr Rich was so thorough and patient with both my children knowing it was their first “real” eye exam. Lindsay was also so helpful keeping each child entertained while I was in the exam room with the other, which was extremely helpful. They treated my daughter like a little adult, helping her pick out her glasses. It was such a great experience that I booked my own appointment for later this week. Thank you for giving my children such a positive experience. They were so timid going in, but they both left completely at ease. I can’t stress what a positive experience it was from start to finish. I highly recommend A.V. Eyes Optometry.

VERY THOROUGH AND COMPASSIONATE
Dr. Rich and his staff are AMAZING. My daughter woke up on a Saturday morning, and she couldn’t open her eye without being in excruciating pain. I figured she had something in it, or a scratched cornea. I called her normal optometrist, but of course being a Saturday, they were closed. I then remembered that I used to go to A.V. Eyes Optometry many years ago and knew they had Saturday hours. I called 10 minutes after they opened, and they were able to get us in an hour later. We were in and out within 20 minutes, and I was correct: scratched cornea. Dr. Rich was very thorough and compassionate and sent us home with antibiotics. And a bonus was that I recognized one of his office staff as the former beloved optician in the office we normally use! Thank you Dr. Rich! We will definitely be back!

I have been going to Dr. Rich for several years now and came back from my annual visit yesterday. He is always excellent! He is professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable about eye health! He takes the time to listen to your current eye issues and always comes up with ideas of how to problem solve. I wear one distance contact and one reading contact so sometimes my eye issues are a bit complicated. Dr. Rich goes above and beyond to make sure you’re a happy patient. Yesterday, when I told him I was almost out of my contacts, he got them to me today! He is a gentleman and has integrity!

I brought my mom here for her yearly check up today, she has MS and it’s very hard and awkward for her to get around but Dr. Rich was very helpful in making sure she was comfortable and made her laugh a lot so she felt less awkward about the hard time she was having doing some of tasks she needed to do for the test. It’s a struggle to get my mom to go places, especially doctors offices but nice doctors like Dr. Rich make it easier to get her to go.

COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL, HIGHLY QUALIFIED DOCTOR
I have been going to Dr. Rich now for many years and have never had a problem. I have also been taking my daughter since she was young.
I have to say I was surprised at some of the negative postings about this practice. I have received nothing but efficient, pleasant care.
As far as Dr. Rich not being very good with children, my daughter has always found him to be very friendly and his music playing panda (cannot remember if it is a panda or another animal now!) was great fun when she was young and she still remembers it well. – She’s a little old for it now.
I would highly recommend anyone (including those with children) visit Dr. Rich and his staff for their optical needs. He is courteous, professional and a highly qualified doctor.

VERY INFORMATIVE. SET ME UP WITH LASIK
I came to Dr. Rich’s office earlier this year (July) for a checkup. It had been nearly 5 years since my last eye exam and after a quick 45-minute visit I was fitted for new contacts and had a new prescription.
Dr. Rich was very informative and answered all of my questions (very politely). One thing that was a pleasant surprise was the thought I would be a candidate for Lasik as well. My last optometrist said I had too much of an astigmatism and could not get the procedure. Dr. Rich was able to set me up with an appointment at a center in Newport, which he also handles all the pre-op and post-op care.
I can’t recommend A.V. Eyes enough. Definitely a great business in this small community (he’s been here over 20 years) with a very helpful staff. When I ran out of contacts they were able to help me out with a short supply to tide me over (replacements were in the mail).

FINALLY FOUND AN EYE CARE PRACTICE THAT I TRUST
Dr Rich and his staff was excellent! We recently transferred from another eye doctor because this other eye doctor tried to get us to upgrade and to do unneccesary testing and buy the most expensive glasses out there.
